Where readiness meets opportunity
Dr. Montessori described childhood as a series of planes of development. Between 3 and 6 your child is in the first plane — the practical thinking stage — making sense of a large world through practical thought and the work of the hands. That is why the Children's House environment is grounded in reality: real tools, real tasks, and real results a child can see and touch.
Child-centered
You won't find a teacher lecturing from the front. Our guides work at your child's level, closely observing each child's interests, tendencies, and readiness.
A mixed-age community
Younger children are inspired by their older classmates; older children gain confidence, leadership, and responsibility by setting the example. Caring for one another teaches compassion — and everyone grows.
The gift of choice
After individual and small-group lessons, real learning happens as your child chooses work, repeats it, and perfects it — at their own pace. This builds confidence and protects a child's sense of wonder.

Onward to Elementary
Your child leaves Children's House with strong academic skills and, more importantly, the belief that learning is joyful and boundless — ready for our Elementary program, ages 6 to 12.

What is Children's House?
Children's House is the classic Montessori primary classroom for ages 3 to 6. Ours is AMI-Recognized — recognized by the Association Montessori Internationale for authentic Montessori practice.
What does "AMI-Recognized" mean?
It means an independent body, AMI, has confirmed our program meets its standards for authentic Montessori — trained guides, proper materials, and uninterrupted work cycles. It is a mark of authenticity; the Montessori name itself is not trademarked.
Do you offer Spanish?
Yes. Spanish is woven into daily life through our Spanish-speaking staff and everyday exposure, so children absorb a second language naturally.
Does my child need to be potty trained for Children's House?
In Children's House, students have mastered basic self-care skills such as washing hands, taking shoes on and off, opening lunch boxes, and toileting. At this stage children are ready to take the next step in their education through the introduction of academic subjects. Classroom guides provide gentle self-care reminders to children and build opportunities for hand washing and toileting throughout the daily schedule. To ensure the environment is rich in educational opportunities, children are expected to toilet independently at this stage including recognizing the need to use the restroom, completing the steps, and returning to their work prepared and ready for more.
Is the third year a kindergarten year?
Yes. The third year in Children's House is the kindergarten year — a capstone when much of the earlier work comes together, so we encourage families to stay for it.
